About Me?
Ok, so this is supposed to be one of those typical “about me” pages that everyone has with some general info that is usually pretty boring. I don’t really like that idea but I do recognize the need for it, so we’ll start with the boring stuff and move into something more… interesting.
My name is Jacob Vorpahl and I’m currently living in Jacksonville, FL. I’m married to my wonderful wife Sarah and loving it (marriage IS worth it). I am a graduate of the University of North Florida with a bachelor’s degree in political science as of December 2008, and also as of the same date, I’m a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps (reserve).
Since the summer of ‘07 I have gotten into photography and it’s now my #1 hobby. I love it. I can’t get enough of it. I’ve expanded my gear list much farther than I probably should but what good is money for if it justs sits around anyways, right? Might as well enjoy it. So be prepared to see a lot of photography related stuff on this blog.
However, the biggest part of my life is God. I am a practicing Christian and I’m not ashamed or afraid to admit. I’m not perfect, but isn’t that the point of why we need Christ in our lives? I got saved in July of 2002 and haven’t looked back since.
Now… lets see.. name, marital status, school… check…. militaty, hobbies, church… check. Ok, now for some interesting “about me” stuff:
- When I was growing up, for some reason I couldn’t say ‘leg ache’. Every time my leg was bothering me I would say I have an ‘egg lake’. I know. It’s cute. You don’t have to say it.
- I HATE long phone conversations. Normally I would say that that doesn’t apply when the person lives far away, but I’ve discovered that isn’t actually true. I hate long phone conversations PERIOD, regardless of where you live.
- I wear contacts.
- The fastest I’ve ever ran 3-miles is 20:24.
- I’m very color blind. So bad that the house I live in now, the first house I’ve ever bought, has a pink bathroom. Pink tiles and pink paint. I thought the tiles were beige and the walls were white. I didn’t know it was pink until my wife informed me long after I’d been living there.
- Sometimes when I fall asleep my whole body ‘jolts’. Occasionally it will be so bad that it’ll wake me back up.
- I. Hate. Peas.
- I once met the WWE’s Undertaker at a Ruby Tuesday’s in Jacksonville, FL. I don’t think he was impressed with me.
There. Now I feel like you know something “about” me. Just to keep this interesting, I’ll periodically add to this list so that one day it will be ridiculously long and hopefully funny. Happy reading!

I found a camera bag belonging to someone I think is your friend, Shannon Foldy. I live in Washington and hope to return it to her before she leaves town but can’t seem to find her. My numbers are 202-544-6768-h and 202-365-2968-cell. Sorry for the bother.

I am trying to contact DeWayne Truitt, recently married to Elaine Johnson. My wife Valerie & I lost contact with DeWayne and his 2nd wife Sherrie a few years ago. In fact Valerie & I stood up with DeWayne & Sherrie at their wedding. We haven’t seen the boys — Steve & Erich since we visited the family in Arkansas when DeWayne was with Wal-Mart. We lost their last address which I believe was in Florida, and my wife on a lark happen to Google him and came across your photos of DeWayne & Elaine’s wedding, and what a lovely event it must have been. I’ve known DeWayne since 1974 when we worked together at Sears Merchandiseing Headquarters in Chicago and would like to catch up with him and get to know Elaine as well.
