Every year starting a week or two before Black Fridy, Amazon.com will have what they call ‘Lightning Deals’ where they’ll have a bunch of products on sale througout the day, but at some point during the day, reduce the price even further for a limited time. Well, when I saw “LIFE: 75 Years of the Very Best of LIFE” go on sale for $12, I had to pick it up. (It’s currently retailing for around $25-$35)
This thing is massive. It’s nearly a foot tall and weighs almost 7 pounds. When I opened it up for the first time, to a random page, it was a full color, full page photo of doctors doing emergency surgery on an infant still in the womb. The little baby girl actually reached out and touched the hand of one of the surgeons. To say that, after having Jaxson, I didn’t get teared up over that, would be a lie. I’m tearing up right now just typing this.
Anyway, this book was a bargain. If you have any interest in seeing photos from the last 75 years of history, pick up a copy and just start browsing. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
