365 2012/5 – Taking Notes from VisionMongers

I’m currently reading through a book by author/photographer David duChemin titled “VisionMongers”. He wrote it for people like myself who are getting into the photography industry and need some guidance. Moreso, though, in every book he writes, on his blog, and in this book, he drills into the fact that as a photographer, you have to have vision in your work. A photographer is not a commodity.

Also, being a photographer is not about making money. It’s a means to make money, but it’s more about the poeple you photograph. How can you communicate the ideas you have in your head through your camera, and how can you serve your clients in the best way? He also advocates discovering what you love to shoot, because if you shoot what you care about, you’ll do a better job and be happier doing it.
