365/31 – Serious Face

I decided to play around some more with bare flash and added fill with a Lumiquest Softbox III and my by buddy Nick was willing to partake of the experiment. We tried a number of different poses and angles of light, but nothing really worked until I got close and he randomly decided to make a serious face, which gave us this. I really liked it once I saw it, especially the close nature of it. Very intense looking.

To light it I used 3 SB800s: one on camera with Lumiquest Softbox III as fill; one high above camera right, angled down; one camera left at 45 degree angle to Nick with a grid attached for seperation. All were triggered via CLS.
