365/23 – Textures of a Rose

Here we have a simple rose, my 365 shot for the day. I wanted to get up close and show the textures, which were, as always, beautiful. The textures look even better in B&W, but the loss of color really takes away some of the punch and sensuality of the rose. 

I used 1 SB800, shot directly overheard, with a Lumiquest Softbox III attached. That Lumiquest gives great light on small objects (remember, relative size is what’s important).  I shot with my favorite (and, well… only) macro set up: Nikon D80, 70-300mm VR with Canon 500D close-up filter attached.
