Ok, first things first: there is probably going to be no more “Today’s picture” when I do this 365. It will instead be “Yesterday’s picture” because I just don’t have the time at night to get these things edited and put up. So instead, I’m going to give myself a deadline of taking the picture before midnight on the day of, then posting it up here by no later than 8 am the following morning. It’ll work better that way.
And yes, I did say when I do this, because I’ve decided this is something I could photographically use right now. A little bit of push will go a long way. I’m expecting various life changes over the next six months, so hopefully this project is viable that far into the future. I’m going to start April 1st, officially, but until then I’m still going to try and do a photo a day except when I go on an upcoming vacation. I’ve also come up with a few ideas to keep it interesting, the details of which I’ll disclose as we get closer after I’ve had a chance to completely iron them out. Should be fun though.
As for yesterday’s pictures (yes, pictures with an ‘s’), I put together a little setup in the house so that my wife and I could basically just goof off. She had picked us up some green “Cat-in-the-Hat” style hats to wear on St. Patrick’s Day and I didn’t want to pass up the chance to take some fun pictures using them. We took a bunch, some with some really great expressions, except that since both of us were in front of the camera we couldn’t always guarantee that we were in the shot, which resulted in heads and shoulders getting cut off. Sad times. So these are the ones that are leftover that made it. Enjoy.
For information’s sake, the setup we used was some white paper rolled down as a background with a Nikon SB800 gelled yellow for the second shot hitting the background, while the rest were lit on with the primary light used for all three, which was an SB800 inside of a Westcott Apollo Mono Softbox situated camera right, slightly elevated at 45 degrees.
