… and here we are at Friday

So, I went and got my massage yesterday. To sum up how I feel about the whole thing: I still have the knot in my back that keeps me from getting sleep. I was supposed to get a 1 hour massage at a place called Massage Envy, but it only lasted around 30-40 minutes and I still have all of the same knots in my muscles. I don’t know, maybe they weren’t hard enough or something. They said they’d give a firm swedish but perhaps that’s not good enough. I’ll have to try other solutions.

Nonetheless, here we are at Friday. The end of a short week is always a good thing, except when there is a tropical storm about to dump a bunch of rain on you. Can’t get a break. Regardless, I’ve got some photo ideas for this weekend as well as plans to work (and hopefully complete) my tutorial on the RPT function for the SB-800. It should be fun but I’m guessing it will go into next week as I plan to make a video for it as well. That might have to come later.

But yesterday I got an idea for a picture while I was sitting at work and I wrote out a lighting plan for it. I called it “Poker Face”. It consisted of a close up camera view using two strobes and a blacked out background. Well, the self portrait thing didn’t work very well on this one, but I did find something else I liked.

Poker Face

I was tinkering around with some of the photos using different layers, opacities, and Photoshop filters to see if I could get something cool when I got this effect, similar to what they use in Grand Theft Auto on the loading screens.  I adjusted a little here and there but I actually like the look.  I think it isolates the idea of a “poker face” much better than I was able to create through natural means.  I’ll still keep working on it but for now, I’m satisfied.

Look for some stuff this weekend (tropical storms and hurricanes, withstanding).
