New training pics – including night vision!

Hey everyone.

Well, today was definitely one of the best days I’ve had here so far. Went to the gym, got in a really good workout, felt great. Went to the classroom and started getting taught such things as calling in MedEvacs and Air and Artillery support. Then, we did this neat IED spotter exercise where they placed 10 IEDs out in this kind of wooded and watery area and we had 15 minutes to find them all. As far as I know, only 4 people actually found all of them and I was the second fastest with 10 minutes. Good stuff.

Then they told us of our op – for tonight. Our mission was a night driving one where we had the option of using NVGs (Night Vision Goggles) and we were driving the Zodiacs in a six boat column. Oh yeah it was fun. Those things go 25 knots in the water and they are extremely fun to drive. I drove for quite a bit tonight and it made up for a lot of the junk that goes on here.

The above image and the one to the right are of us building terrain models to practice on calling in air strikes and being to judge distance and such. It was fun making the thing for the most part. Definitely got taught a lot.

And the rest of these are from us getting the boats ready for our night driving.

And these pictures are from our op before, slightly during with NVGs (since they discourage cameras during ops), and one picture after.

Love you and hope to hear from you all soon.

So, you are finally going to the gym… What is your PT like there? Do you have mandatory PT? We don’t. I do go to the gym daily, or I’ll go running or ruck marching… Gotta get ready for Ranger School

Yes, we PT three times a week after our daily training if we don’t train too late (meaning we’ll PT if it isn’t dark, sometimes if it is). However, we go the gym every morning. I’m starting to notice a difference in my strength, and somewhat in looks. But, I’m just trying to get in better in shape, and that’s starting to happen.

    Night Ops?

With all the glowsticks etc. it looks more like a crazy marine rave to me.

I’ve seen a gym and saw people walking in and out of it….does that count for anything? No really i enjoyed those pics…they are very interesting as i enjoy mechanical things and water mixed with rubber boats named after a system of astrological insignias. Keep em comin buddy.
